Levison Ziwa URGES KASENENGWA VOTERS TO TURN OUT AND "CHOOSE PROGRESS OVER PROMISES"

KASENENGWA, August 12, 2026

UPND Parliamentary Candidate for Kasenengwa, Levison Ziwa, has called on residents to turn out in large numbers tomorrow, Thursday, August 13, 2026, saying it is the day to shape the future of the constituency and the country.

In a statement to voters, Mr. Ziwa said the campaign period has been defined by a shared vision for development and service delivery.

“People of Kasenengwa, the moment to shape our future is finally here. We have walked this journey together, sharing our vision for real development, better roads, improved agricultural support, quality health services, and educational opportunities for our children,” he said.

Mr. Ziwa urged voters to make deliberate choices in the ballot booth centered on progress and delivery.

“When you step into the voting booth, let us choose progress over promises. Vote for Levison Ziwa as your Member of Parliament and re-elect President Hakainde Hichilema to continue delivering unity, stability, and genuine economic transformation across Kasenengwa and Zambia,” he stated.

He reminded voters to identify the UPND symbol the raised hand on the ballot paper as they cast their votes.

“Your vote is your power. Let us turn out in full force tomorrow and vote for real leadership. Together, let us secure a brighter, stronger future,” Mr. Ziwa appealed.

Polling in Kasenengwa Constituency will be conducted nationwide on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

NRPUP alleges DEC seized party funds,

By Staff Reporter

The National Reconciliation Paryy for Unity and Prosperity NRPUP, has alleged that the Drug Enforcement Commission, DEC, confiscated party funds that was donated by citizens.

Presidential Affairs chairperson Binwell Mpundu confirmed the development.

Mpundu allege that the money was meant to pay polling agents countrywide, and that several senior party officials have been arrested in recent days.

He accused the ruling UPND of desperation and intimidation.

“The UPND were mocking us when we started asking for donations from our supporters, calling us broke. But in a shocking move yesterday, they sent DEC officers to come and confiscate our money meant to pay our polling agents countrywide,” the Chairperson said.

According to Mpundu, the crackdown has also extended to key party allies.

He cited the reported abductions of Amb. Martha Lungu and Hannah Israel, and the arrests of State Counsel George Chisanga, Japhen Mwakalombe, and Sebastian Kopulande.

"What kind of desperation is this. Now these are stories and atrocities that their people on Facebook are not will to discuss,” he said.

The Chairperson did not provide details on where the alleged seizure of funds took place, amount or the exact charges facing those arrested.

DEC and Zambia Police had not issued a statement on the allegations by press time.

NRPUP said it expects electoral authorities and law enforcement to allow all parties to operate freely ahead of polling day.
