This is Lassie, a cute Scotty girl. Her owner Shirley asked me to paint her portrait. My trusty and talented artist/photographer pal, Ken Etberg, did the honours with the photography for me to work from... he said he had to take an awful lot of photos to get one showing her sweet brown eyes... even just a little! Dogs with thick, rough curly black coats come with their own challenges.. as I also found out when I was painting her! However, my artistic persistence paid off I think, and here is the end result.

2026 has begun productively. Jet, my friend Maria's sweet labby/pitty mix passed away late last year. I had the sudden urge to do a crayon sketch of his lovely face for her.. I think Jet was talking to me!

Painted my friend's lovely Boxer girl..busy here giving her canine sister a dirty look! Sadly, a short while after the painting was commissioned, Emma developed really bad Cushing's disease and eventually her owners had to do the best thing for her. Broken hearts all round, just glad I had the chance to commemorate her, she was one heck of a gal! A Boxer of note!
