ICEP hosted an online Scrum Masters Sprint Training session for second semester interns, designed to equip Interns with practical knowledge of Sprint methodology and Agile ways of working.

At ICEP, we believe that industry readiness goes beyond technical knowledge. It’s about developing the mindset, collaboration skills and practical understanding needed to thrive in the workplace.

Hey TUT Fam!

The webinar was led by Esnath Hwerengwe, Founder of Top Fin, Creator of the Build Model™, and Author of Graduate with Freedom.

She shared valuable insights on how students can identify real-world problems, develop practical solutions, and use those projects to build strong professional portfolios.

A key lesson from the session was the importance of developing a value-creation mindset. Instead of asking, “Where can I find a job?” or “Who is hiring graduates?”, students were encouraged to ask, “What problem can I solve?”, “Who is experiencing this problem?”, and “How can I create value?”

The session reinforced the powerful message: “BUILD IT. SHOW IT. OWN IT.” While a qualification is important, a portfolio provides practical evidence of a graduate’s skills, creativity, initiative, and ability to solve real-world problems.

As we are still celebrating Women’s Month, we honour the strength, resilience, creativity, and achievements of women who continue to inspire change and shape the future. May we continue to empower and support women to lead, innovate, and create opportunities.

Thank you to our wonderful guest speaker for an insightful session.

CAREER TIP OF THE DAY

Don’t just learn technology - use it to solve real-world problems!

In today’s competitive ICT industry, having a qualification is a great foundation, but practical experience can help you stand out. Take what you learn in class and turn it into something practical. Build websites, develop applications, analyse data, create digital solutions, work on innovative projects, or explore new technologies.

📌 Start building your portfolio!
Your portfolio is a powerful way to show potential employers what you can actually do. Include your projects, skills, achievements, certificates, and experiences. Even small projects can demonstrate your creativity, problem-solving ability, teamwork, and willingness to learn.
Remember: Every project is an opportunity to learn, improve, and showcase your potential.

Keep learning. Keep building. Keep innovating. Your next opportunity could come from something you create today!
