One thing we’ve noticed in procurement is that SMEs think lowering their price automatically increases their chances of winning a tender.
That’s not true anymore.
A lot of businesses are underpricing themselves just to stay competitive, only to still lose the tender. Not because they weren’t affordable, but because their process was weak.
Poor documentation, rushed submissions, incomplete compliance, generic proposals, and a lack of structure are costing SMEs opportunities every single day.
Meanwhile, companies with higher pricing are winning because they understand how procurement works. They know how to present value, reduce risk, and submit professionally.
Procurement teams are not only buying based on price. They’re buying confidence, reliability, and process.
The problem is that many SMEs are trying to compete on cost while ignoring the systems and preparation needed to actually win.
In today’s market, the cheapest quote is not always the strongest bid.
