Estate Administration requires careful attention to documentation, deadlines, and compliance requirements.

Some of the most common mistakes we see during the Administration of Estates include:

• Poorly drafted L&D accounts submitted to the Master
• Missing supporting documentation
• Poor recordkeeping
• Not tracking deadlines and follow-ups
• Misunderstanding Estate Duty calculations

Being aware of these challenges can help ensure a smoother Estate Administration process.

Lauren is part of our Customer Experience & Support team, helping clients with queries and ensuring they feel supported throughout the estate and trust administration process.

She’s always been drawn to estate planning because it connects law with real life. It’s not just about documents, it’s about supporting families and preserving legacies.

Lauren believes one of the biggest misconceptions about estate and trust administration is that it’s simply paperwork. In reality, it requires careful thinking, adaptability, and understanding the human side of the work.

A value that guides Lauren in her role is responsibility, knowing that the work we do affects real people and families.

We're proud to have Lauren as part of the Fennec team.

Getting these wrong doesn't just create paperwork; it creates significant legal and Fiduciary liability.

Swipe through to see if your current process holds up to the facts. 👇

With 28 February 2026 behind us, Trust Service Providers can significantly reduce year-end pressure by preparing proactively for the compilation of Trust financial statements.

As financial year-end processes unfold, consider the following:

• Clearly define Trust-specific information requirements when corresponding with stakeholders.
• Set expectations with Trustees and related parties upfront.
• Standardise the process of obtaining statements and supporting documentation.

Structured preparation leads to smoother reporting, improved compliance, and fewer last-minute complications.
