Ever open your browser for "5 minutes" and resurface two hours later?
We built a free Chrome extension to fix exactly that: TimeCheck Alarm, a browsing timer and productivity tool from Matik Technology Services.
Losing track of time online isn't a willpower problem — it's a design problem. Tabs, feeds, and videos are built to make time disappear. TimeCheck Alarm gives you a simple counterweight:
⏰ Set a timer — quick presets, a custom duration, or an exact time like 13:15 Add a reason ("fetch child from school", "wrap up and join the call") so the reminder means something when it fires Get notified three ways — a system notification, a ping tone, and a full on-page alert, so it's genuinely hard to miss Customize the tone, color, and theme to match how you work Set recurring reminders for long, open-ended work or browsing sessions
It's a small tool aimed at a real problem: time blindness while browsing, doomscrolling past a deadline, or losing a work session to tab overload. Built with Chrome's Manifest V3, it's lightweight, works entirely on your device, and doesn't collect or transmit any of your data.
Free to use. If you find it useful, there's a "buy me a coffee" link in the settings to support future updates.
Would love feedback from anyone who tries it — what would make this a daily habit for you?
