BE KIND!
The after care is just as important as the sale, hence we make it a habit to do random checks on sites where we have done an installation whenever we visit a town or village we have lit up.
Yesterday we were in Selebi-Phikwe , and after the sun had set, we decided to go and park on the roadside of one of the streets we lit up, to check if the lights were working as well as we had promised they would. We sat there and watched people walking by, and seeing them walking freely and chatting gave us the utmost joy, but we had a nostalgic moment when we saw a group of young men dressed in school uniform.
Boys being boys, they stopped because a friend who had given us a lift was driving a car they admired. We invited them over so they can appreciate it at a closer angle, and we then had a chat about school, where they shared that they were preparing to write their form 3 exams, we wished them well and also had a quick chat about life after school.
They asked us what we do and we shared that we work for the company that made the lights that are lighting up this street. 🤣 One of them gave us a suspicious eye, gone for setse hela gore a re “nnng nng ako le bueng nnete” …long story short, as they walked away, we could see how free they were because of the safety provided by well-lit streets, but that brief conversation also served as motivation to remind them that they could strive for anything they wanted.
Sometimes we take it for granted how little things such as having a chat with someone can change their way of thinking and motivate them a little more.
We encourage everyone out there to just be kind, you never know how a small moment of kindness can change the trajectory of one’s life. It goes a long way!
