KLOTZ AIS presents new CAT5e & Audio Hybrid Cable HG2X3M2E

With the new HG2X3M2E, KLOTZ AIS introduces a high-quality hybrid system cable that combines two CAT5e network cables and two AES/EBU audio cables for transmitting both analogue and digital audio signals in a highly flexible braided sleeve. This combination provides a compact cabling solution with reliable signal transmission, specifically designed to meet the demands of professional live, touring and broadcast applications.

The new KLOTZ hybrid cable is particularly suitable for connecting remote d&b stage racks, Allen & Heath dLive systems or Yamaha consoles with Dante® where two separate CAT connections are required. For network transmission, the HG2X3M2E uses highly flexible KLOTZ CAT5e SF/UTP patch cables, while the analogue and digital audio connections are based on the proven KLOTZ OmniTRANS AES/EBU audio cable.

Rugged etherCON RJ45 and high-quality 3p XLR connectors, all featuring metal housings and clear colour coding, ensure easy handling and reliable connections in demanding live environments. The flexible braided sleeve combines all four lines into one compact assembly, making routing and handling easier in everyday use.

By combining network and digital audio connections in a single cable, the HG2X3M2E significantly reduces cabling requirements and keeps even complex setups neat and organised. The result is faster setup, more efficient cabling and reliable signal transmission in professional applications.

Maranatha Community Church | A Special Project

Some projects are about more than the technology. They’re about the people, the purpose and being part of something special.

It was a privilege for DWR Distribution to work alongside Robert Grobler and the team at Maranatha Community Church on their beautiful new 5,500-seat campus in Kempton Park.

A special milestone is the installation of Africa’s first permanent L-Acoustics L-ISA system, bringing an exciting new immersive sound experience to the church.

Thank you to Maranatha Community Church for trusting DWR to be part of this project, and to everyone who worked together to bring the vision to life.

14–16 October | grandMA3 User Training | Durban

A great start to three days of MA Lighting International grandMA3 training in Durban!

Day one has been filled with learning, engagement and plenty of discussion as attendees get to grips with the grandMA3 system and explore its capabilities with Jaques Pretorius.

Over the next few days, the group will work through everything from setup, patching and fixture selection to presets, sequences, tracking and phasers, building a stronger understanding of the grandMA3 software and its operating philosophy.

A big thank you to Jaques for sharing his knowledge and experience, to everyone attending for getting involved and asking questions, and to the DWR Distribution Durban team for the warm welcome and all their help in making the training happen.

We also managed to capture a group photo in our Durban Demo Room! If you’re in the area, our customers and industry friends are always welcome to pop in, say hello and see what we have on display. We’d love to see you.

We’re looking forward to the next two days of learning and hands-on exploration!

Another Two DiGiCo Quantum 338s for Gearhouse South Africa

Gearhouse South Africa has taken delivery of two new DiGiCo Quantum 338 digital mixing consoles, supplied by DWR Distribution, bringing its total stock to four within the group. The latest units have gone straight to the very enthusiastic Cape Town team, strengthening the branch’s audio department and accommodating international technical riders. The audio team had DiGiCo and L-Acoustics training and everyone's raring to go!

It’s difficult not to like Jonathan Mathese, Audio and Audio Visual Operations Manager at Gearhouse South Africa’s Cape Town branch. A family man and passionate runner, Jonathan started his career in Gearhouse’s warehouse more than 20 years ago and understands first-hand what it means to build a career from entry level.

Today, his passion lies not only in technical excellence but also in developing the next generation of technicians and creating opportunities for people who may not otherwise have considered a career in the technical live events industry. He shares that passion with colleagues across Gearhouse South Africa, including Charl and Lisa Smit.

“I’m absolutely excited about the new DiGiCos and our patience has been rewarded,” said Jonathan. “I was always pushing for DiGiCo because of its functionality and the importance of standardising across the Gearhouse South Africa branches. We needed that same standard in Cape Town.”

Hilton Arts Festival 2026 | A Celebration of Art, Music & Theatre

What a year for the Hilton Arts Festival!

From packed theatres and incredible performances to music, art and a wonderful atmosphere throughout the festival, Hilton 2026 was a celebration of creativity at its best.

This year also welcomed two exciting additions to the programme, with the KZN Art Fair and the pop culture offering from Just Geekin' bringing something new to the mix. Both were warmly received, adding even more variety to an already vibrant festival.

With audiences showing up, shows thriving and so much happening across the festival, it was fantastic to see the arts community come together for another memorable year.

A special thank you to Black Coffee Events SA, the festival’s technical supplier, for helping bring the performances and productions to life. And thank you to everyone who played a part in making Hilton Arts Festival 2026 such a success.

Here’s to celebrating the arts, bringing people together and keeping creativity thriving.

Carlee, you did WHAT?!

We gave Carlee Smith a wall, a whole lot of colour and a little help from Panasonic!

As part of the refresh of our spaces at DWR Distribution, we were lucky enough to have Carlee create a custom graffiti mural on the back wall of our newly revamped Demo Room. And we love how it turned out!

In the video, Timothy Wilson takes us into the space and introduces the Panasonic PT-CMZ50 ultra-short-throw laser projector that helped Carlee bring her design to life. With a mural this size, projecting the artwork onto the wall helped her keep important elements aligned as she worked.

Who knew a business projector could play a part in creating something this creative?

A big thank you to Carlee for sharing her talent with us, and to Timothy for showing us how projection technology can be used in unexpected ways.

Come and have a coffee with us at DWR Distribution and check it out!

Reykjavik City Theatre invests in more Robe T2 Profiles

Reykjavík City Theatre – Iceland’s very popular and oldest continuously operating theatre company, founded in 1897 as the Reykjavík Theatre Company – has invested in more ROBE lighting T2 Profile moving lights, following the great success of their first batch purchased in 2023.

The first 16 x T2 Profiles – supplied via Robe’s Icelandic distributor Luxor – were picked to replace the venue’s previous front lights, which were 15 years old at the time, explained head of AV, Steinar Snæbjörnsson, who leads the technical department.

These T2 Profiles were installed on the front bar and the other 19 on the bridges, taking the theatre’s front lighting capacity to new levels.
