Some projects ask you to create something beautiful. Others ask you to help carry the weight of a story.

Rule 9 had the privilege of creating the official poster and title typography for The Man, the Cliff and the Dog, a deeply moving South African short film from Mandala Films, directed by Luke Sharland.

The title treatment went on to form part of the film’s wider marketing, giving the story a consistent visual identity beyond the original poster.

Set at the edge of a cliff, the film explores despair, human connection and the fragile moments that can give someone a reason to keep going. It is heartbreaking, honest and, in its own unexpected way, deeply motivational.

We are incredibly proud to have played a small part in helping this powerful story find its visual voice.
