This , the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT) celebrates the power of research, to transform young minds into change makers, innovators and leaders. Through impactful research that addresses real-world challenges, our students gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to create solutions that improve lives and shape a sustainable future. The EBIT generation is defined by grit, determination and a relentless pursuit of excellence. With awakened minds and a commitment to making a difference, our graduates leave the University of Pretoria not only work-ready, but ready to lead, innovate, and contribute meaningfully to society. At EBIT, we are building a generation that will drive progress and create a better tomorrow for all.

Meet Prof Tinus Stander:
Prof. Tinus Stander is a Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Pretoria (UP). He specializes in microwave and millimetre-wave microelectronics, and his research focuses on space-borne RF systems, additive manufacturing (3D printing) for RF components, and built-in self-testing for electronics.

Professor Stander's academic credentials are firmly rooted in Electronic Engineering, having earned both his B.Eng and Ph.D. from Stellenbosch University. Joining the University of Pretoria in 2020 as an Associate Professor, he was promoted to Full Professor in 2023, a testament to his impactful contributions. His research focus spans receivers for radio astronomy, notably VLBI systems, MMICs, and oscillation-based testing of microelectronics. A highlight of his academic tenure was delivering his inaugural address, "Making big waves with small waves: Today’s challenges in microwave and millimetre (mm)-wave engineering," in August 2023, showcasing his expertise in the field.
