Obakeng has become someone the team knows they can count on. He takes on the tricky problems without hesitation, stays with them until they’re properly solved, and brings the same discipline to his work that he brings to the field. Quiet, dependable, and never one to back down from a challenge - he lets the work speak for itself.

The real cost of software shows up when the business needs it to change.

Requirements change. Priorities shift. Constraints emerge. Suddenly, the product that worked yesterday starts asking for more time, more budget and more compromise than it should.

That is the difference between software that launches well and software that lasts.

Lasting software is shaped by more than the build itself. It comes from the decisions behind it: the way teams think about implementation, change, research, quality and knowledge before those things become expensive problems later.

A decade of building software has made one thing clear: the decisions that make software easier to improve are usually made long before the business feels the cost of changing it.

The cost of change usually starts long before the need for a better user experience becomes obvious.

A workflow gets shaped around internal processes instead of how people actually work. Architecture gets shaped around today’s requirements, leaving limited room for future change. Integrations pile up over time, each one reasonable on its own.

None of these decisions are necessarily wrong in the moment. Teams make trade offs constantly. The problem is that those trade offs compound, and they quietly determine how easy or expensive it becomes to improve the software later.

By the time the need for a better experience becomes clear, the question is no longer only what needs to change. It is whether the system can support that change without disproportionate cost, delay or compromise.

This is the moment where user experience and software architecture stop being separate concerns.

The strongest software outcomes happen when user needs, business goals and technical feasibility are considered together from the start.

Because software that works well today matters.
But software that is built to evolve is what keeps that value alive 🦾
