China has launched its first large-scale humanoid robot factory in Guangdong Province.

Built by Leju Robotics and Dongfang Precision Science and Technology, the facility can produce up to 10,000 robots per year—shifting the industry from small experiments to mass production.

A new robot is produced every 30 minutes using fully digital assembly, 24 build stages, and 77 quality checks.

The flexible system can switch between different robot models without stopping, while automated vehicles and smart controls keep production fast and reliable.

Before leaving the line, each robot goes through 41 tests to make sure it works in real-world conditions.

Other Chinese companies are also moving quickly. Agibot has already built its 10,000th robot, UBTECH plans to produce 5,000 units per year at under $20,000 each, and Unitree is raising $580 million to scale production to 75,000 units.

A 70-year-old woman in Macau got quite a scare when a small humanoid robot suddenly appeared behind her while she was walking and checking her phone.

The robot, a 4 ft 4 in Unitree G1, was being used by a local education center for promotional activities.

Startled, the woman yelled at the robot, saying it made her heart race and called the situation “crazy.” A few passersby watched as she confronted it.

Police soon arrived and calmly escorted the robot away, placing a hand on its shoulder, sparking online jokes that it was the “first humanoid robot arrested.”

The woman was taken to a hospital as a precaution but was unharmed and chose not to file a complaint. The robot’s 50-year-old owner was reminded to be careful when using it in public.
