Server Room Maintenance & Cable Management โ Weekend Update
On Sunday, we carried out scheduled maintenance in the server room, focused on cable management and rack organization across both racks. Loose and tangled cabling (Ethernet, fiber, and patch leads) was re-routed, labeled, and secured to improve airflow, reduce troubleshooting time, and lower the risk of accidental disconnections. Work was scheduled for a weekend to minimize impact on operations, and downtime was kept to a minimum by working switch-by-switch and verifying link status before moving to the next segment.
In parallel, we conducted a pe*******on test on the network infrastructure to assess the security posture of the switches, firewall, and exposed services. This included checking for outdated firmware, weak/default credentials, open unnecessary ports, and any misconfigurations that could be exploited.
Outcome:
Server room cabling is now organized, labeled, and easier to trace/maintain
No unplanned downtime beyond brief, controlled interface resets during re-cabling
Pen test findings will be documented separately with a remediation plan for any vulnerabilities identified
