Expanding access to digital skills starts with meeting communities where they are!!

Our first fully off grid Mobile Digital Lab is officially open! It was launched at the Royal Bafokeng Institute by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, alongside our SVP: CEO SA & Botswana, Ziaad Suleman.

Delivered in proud partnership with the Bafokeng Institute, and with the support of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) and Microsoft, this self-sustaining learning environment is designed to bring technology access and digital skills training directly to communities in the North-West Province. Importantly, the lab is free and open to everyone in the Bafokeng community, ensuring inclusive access to digital tools, training, and opportunities. This initiative will drive meaningful access to digital technology, unlock opportunity, and create pathways for education, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic growth across the community.

This is about more than just connectivity. It is about breaking and creating a space where anyone can learn, explore and acquire digital skills to build, own, and shape their own digital futures.

Girls in ICT Day is a reminder that when women are empowered with technology, they shape the future of it!

Herdtrace's journey reflects the wider ecosystem being built through our Innovation and Digital Skills Centre (IDSC), which supports young innovators in developing practical, technology enabled businesses. That ecosystem also includes eStopini, a women led delivery business leveraging technology and local taxi networks to connect township economies through opportunity.

This Girls in ICT Day, we celebrate women in technology, youth entrepreneurship and the role of the Innovation and Digital Skills Centre in enabling ideas to grow into sustainable businesses.
