One of the key pillars for a successful AI journey is to eliminate the ‘garbage in, hallucination out’ scenario resulting from too much inconsistent data. To deliver a successful AI project, consistent, quality data is a non-negotiable, says Shakeel Jhazbhay, General Manager: Digital Business Solutions at Datacentrix.

Jhazbhay will be participating in a panel discussion at the OpenText Summit Africa 2026 entitled: ‘The AI Reality Check: From Experimentation to Enterprise Impact’, alongside Groote Schuur Hospital, a Datacentrix customer. The discussion will tap into the lessons learned from the hospital’s electronic patient record journey.

The OpenText Summit Africa 2026 will be held on Thursday, 3 September at The Canvas in Riversands, Johannesburg. Read more here: https://www.itweb.co.za/article/data-foundations-crucial-to-get-ahead-in-the-ai-race/G98YdqLGnGoMX2PD?utm_source=dailyEnews_link&utm_medium=email

The AI conversation is changing.

We’ve moved from asking “What can AI do?” to the much more important question: “How do we make AI deliver real business value at scale?”

Shakeel Jhazbhay, General Manager at Datacentrix Digital Business Solutions will be joining a group of technology and business leaders at OT Summit Africa 2026 for the Client Panel: “The AI Reality Check: From Experimentation to Enterprise Impact.” Together with leaders from Nedbank, SANRAL, Groote Schuur Hospital and University of Pretoria, the discussion will unpack the realities of moving from pilots and proofs of concept to responsible, enterprise-wide AI adoption.

Expect an honest conversation around value, governance, scalability, challenges and the lessons organisations are learning along the way. If AI is on your organisation’s agenda, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.

Cloud sovereignty has become one of the most discussed topics within the technology industry, yet it is also one of the most misunderstood. Much of this confusion stems from the assumption that sovereignty is guaranteed simply because data is hosted locally.
In reality, true sovereignty extends far beyond where information is stored, and South African organisations need to move past marketing claims and ask deeper questions about control, accountability and governance.

Many businesses are reassessing earlier cloud decisions as they grapple with securing increasingly distributed environments across public cloud, private cloud and on-premises infrastructure. In our latest trend piece, Datacentrix talks about the new phase of cloud maturity organisations are currently entering and why cloud security is increasingly becoming a question of accountability rather than adoption.

The article tackles the shared responsibility model, the growing complexity of hybrid cloud environments, and discusses why organisations need to evolve their security strategies to maintain visibility, resilience and control. AI is reshaping the way that organisations use and process data, and, in our newest byline article, Datacentrix discusses why true cloud sovereignty depends on control, accountability and governance. We look at the growing influence in South Africa of PoPIA on cloud procurement decisions, the risks associated with global AI platforms, and why organisations must move beyond simple data residency requirements to ensure genuine control over their information in an increasingly interconnected digital world.

Datacentrix has been awarded 100 trees by PaperCut Software partner, Plankomat SA, as part of the ‘PaperCut Grows’ campaign, a global initiative aimed at becoming a positive force for ecological renewal. The award recognises Datacentrix's Managed Print Services' efforts to help organisations to reduce unnecessary printing, lower paper consumption and minimise environmental impact through intelligent print management technologies. The donated trees, which will be planted on behalf of a Datacentrix customer, support broader reforestation efforts and reinforce the role that smarter printing strategies can play in advancing corporate sustainability goals.
To find out more on the ‘PaperCut Grows’ campaign, please read the full article here: https://www.itweb.co.za/article/datacentrix-recognised-with-100-trees-through-plankomats-papercut-grows-campaign/wbrpO7g2QVWvDLZn?utm_source=dailyEnews_link&utm_medium=email

PaperCut Grows is designed to go beyond traditional sustainability measures by enabling organisations to become ‘forest positive’ – replacing more trees than are used in printing.
