Mobile LTE-Advanced Internet for a price that competes directly with my own ADSL and Fibre.
LTE-A is incredibly fast. To give you an idea, Fibre is offered in 4Mb, 10Mb, 20Mb, 50Mb and 100Mb options. LTE-A is around 140Mb!! But, as usual, there is an issue where we are.
Greater Knysna is LTE-A enabled. I do not believe Plett is. I am told that the speed drops down to whatever compatibility is available.
So, let us assume that it does kick down. Plett has HSDPA all over which is around 10 - 40Mb, and the best part is it is upload AND download. That makes is extremely smooth.
The costs? There is a router you need to buy. The router is R650.00 once off (subsidised for 6 months which means that if you want to cancel before 6 months are done, you'll need to pay in another R600. It usually costs R1250.00). If you sign up before the 30th of November, you get double the data until 30 November 2018. So it looks like this:
25+25Gb R385
55+55Gb R599
85+85Gb R819
120+120Gb R999
220+220Gb R1320
300+330Gb R1550
Please note that after the 30th of November 2017, the data drops down to the 25, 55, 85, 120, 220 or 330. It is doubled if signed up before then.
I am waiting for my router to arrive and will post results the moment it is working.
