The recent release of Laravel 6 LTS and the new error pages based on Ignition’s open source project are fantastic, with much more relevant information provided in the stack trace. It does; however, come preset with Flare which is a paid for service with no free tier. This seems a bit cheeky; give us the option, or at least don’t just assume we want it.

That aside, the move to go serverless is a huge step forward and is definitely the future of online development. As specialists in Laravel and API development, we are looking forward to a faster initial setup process and a pay for load cost. But is there a catch?

After the last year and half we have enjoyed working with MEAN stacks and official add it to our list of working stacks. After going down the rabbit hole and coming out with a ton of experience, building independent server clusters able to spawn load balancer at any stage while pushing full CI/CD Pipelines through Gitlab. It’s been amazing to see the tech pushing the boundaries of what is available to the industry and to think it’s only the tip of the iceberg. More later code first 😊

We are now a couple of months down from the big Gutenberg update on WordPress. How are people liking it? Well I can’t talk for other people but from our recent experience over the last couple of months it’s been a bit distracting to say the least. The learning curve and the sometimes clumsy UI seems to get in the way of what we’re trying to do and if you are on a smaller screen then you’re just pretty much looking for the classic editor 😳 While we see that the future is bright and that WordPress is moving forward to ultimately be a fast react based CMS, I think for now we will stick to ACF, and build uncomplicated UI for our clients that talk direct to their business without having to have 30 plugins just to run their online presence and logistics. If you would like some help DM us and we will gladly un Gutenberg you for now.
