This is what 3D scanning actually looks like. 🔵
A worn part came in with no drawing, no CAD file and no supplier. Here's the full route from that part to a new one — swipe through it.
① THE PART — Just the component, worn from service. Nothing else to work from.
② THE SCAN — Onto the marker turntable, and the handheld laser scanner does the rest. Every curve, every edge, every bit of wear gets captured. All of it done in our own workshop in Kempton Park — nothing gets shipped anywhere to be measured.
③ THE STL FILE — This is where the value sits. Your part now exists as a digital file. Keep it, email it, send it to a foundry, edit it, reprint it in five years. That component can never become unobtainable again.
④ THE PRINT — Straight off the 3D printer from that same file. Hold it, check the fit, confirm it's right before anyone cuts metal or opens a mould.
From there it's your call — cast it, machine it, print it in an engineering-grade material, or just file the STL away until the day you need it.
