We spent the morning scanning 100 Google Business Profiles in four secondary cities. The pattern is worth seeing.
68 of those 100 businesses had no owned web presence. Of the 68:
· 50 listed no website at all
· 10 had a social page only
· 4 had a directory listing only
· 4 had a free or broken platform page
If you're in that group, you are not invisible — you're just renting your visibility. You show up in search, in directories and on social, but the rules, the algorithm and the reach belong to somebody else. Change a policy, change a feed, and your pipeline moves with it.
The practical middle path: keep every platform that brings you customers, and add the one asset nobody can switch off — a site you own with your services, your prices, your photos and a way to book or enquire directly. That's the piece that keeps working when the feed doesn't.
If you'd like to see where your own presence sits in a scan like this one, send us a message — we'll show you what we find, not a sales pitch.
