Role Purpose
The Sales Executive is responsible for generating qualified new business opportunities for SwitchedOnIT by engaging with decision-makers at Johannesburg-based businesses.
The role focuses on pipeline generation and relationship development, with final deal closure led by the founder during the initial phase of the sales process.
The Sales Executive will play a critical role in building a predictable and repeatable lead generation engine for the business.

Primary Responsibilities
1. New Business Prospecting
Identify and engage potential new clients that fit SwitchedOnIT’s Ideal Customer Profile.
Activities include:
• LinkedIn outreach
• email outreach
• networking events
• industry events
• referrals
• cold calling
• leveraging BNI and business networks
Target clients:
• Johannesburg businesses
• 10–50 white collar employees
• Microsoft 365 environments
• owner-managed or strong MD decision maker

2. Meeting Generation
Secure meetings with qualified decision-makers.
These meetings introduce SwitchedOnIT’s cybersecurity positioning and lead to the 15-minute Cybersecurity Assessment.
Responsibilities include:
• identifying correct decision makers
• securing appointments
• ensuring qualified prospects attend meetings
• preparing the prospect before the meeting

3. Pipeline Development
Maintain an active and visible sales pipeline.
Responsibilities include:
• managing prospects inside CRM
• updating pipeline stages
• maintaining accurate contact records
• tracking all communications
The Sales Executive must maintain a disciplined pipeline management process.

4. Lead Qualification
Ensure prospects meet the company’s Ideal Customer Profile.
Qualification criteria include:
• business size
• technology environment
• decision-maker accessibility
• cybersecurity awareness
• budget alignment
Unqualified prospects should not consume founder time.

5. Relationship Development
Build relationships with prospects over time.
Activities include:
• follow-ups
• sharing relevant insights
• maintaining contact
• developing referral opportunities

6. Sales Process Support
Support the founder-led sales process.
Responsibilities include:
• preparing prospects for assessment meetings
• attending selected client meetings
• documenting meeting notes
• coordinating follow-up actions

Performance Metrics
The Sales Executive will be measured primarily on pipeline generation metrics.
Weekly targets:
• 40–60 outbound prospecting attempts
• 10–15 meaningful conversations
• 4–6 booked meetings
Monthly targets:
• 12–20 qualified meetings
• pipeline growth
Revenue responsibility will initially remain with the founder.

Confidence speaking to senior decision makers

Compensation Structure

Performance-based commission
Bonus opportunities based on meeting generation and closed deals

Within the first 90 days the Sales Executive should:
• demonstrate consistent prospecting activity
• generate a visible pipeline
• book regular meetings
• show strong engagement with prospects
Within 6 months the role should contribute to a consistent flow of qualified opportunities into the sales pipeline.
