Social & Digital Media: Screening | AI Risk Assessments | Literacy Training | Audits | Sentiment Reports | Policy Design Conceptualised during 2014 and established during 2015, Farosian is an innovative and disruptive business, focusing on the global phenomenon of social media. Inspired, founded and established by Farhad Bhyat, Sinéad Frampton and Andile Mbentse, Farosian offers a first for the So

uth African market and a first for Africa. Farosian is a specialist social media company, which partners with businesses to better understand the complexities associated with social media, by creating detailed and client specific social media policies, training for staff on the “do’s and don'ts” of social media, as well as our flagship product, being social and digital media screening/auditing reports. Social media and social networking has grown exponentially since 2002, allowing greater access to information, connecting people on a global scale in ways we have never seen before. We are able to connect and communicate with people across borders with no restrictions. This has led to people having their lives documented in fine detail, online, for all to see. We no longer keep journals or diaries, we no longer have photo albums, and all of this is available at our finger tips, through our smart phones and computers. With these complexities, businesses must address these challenges and mitigate the associated risks. Farosian’s specialized products and services allow businesses to navigate and “vaccinate” against these pitfalls. By partnering with Farosian, businesses create a solid social media policy, enabling the positives of social media to come out, all while ensuring that the risk of “social media fails” is virtually eliminated. Farosian’s core focus is partnering with businesses to educate and enable positive social media conduct and behaviour. This is done by:
• Designing, and developing innovative and progressive social media policies
• Creating and delivering social & digital media readiness training
• Providing social and digital media auditing/ screening

Farosian believes in training and educating both businesses and employees in the phenomenon that is social media, thus equipping both business and individuals to understand and navigate the content which is posted and the impact and implications associated. Social media has the potential to cause immense and irrecoverable brand and reputational damage to both businesses and organizations. The simple fact is, that the collective of individuals make up a business. An individual’s social media behaviour and content can either contribute positively or negatively to a businesses and individuals brand. Farosian works closely with business to limit and mitigate these risks. It is no longer a questions of “if it will happen”, but rather when it will happen, and how can it be contained with a proactive approach taken. Farosian provides prevention, so business does not need the cure.

In our line of work, we spend every day identifying red flags, green flags, and everything in between.

This time, we turned our attention inward.

We opened the floor to the team and asked them to share each other's red and green flags. 👀

The result? A completely objective, entirely science-backed assessment with absolutely no personal bias whatsoever.

Are we fueling the start of a Farosian Fight Club? 🥊

We'll find out at the next team meeting…

Every team and athlete enters with a game plan. 🏆

Built on hours of preparation. Analysis of their opponents. Lessons learned from previous victories and defeats.

But every winning performance is supported by a team behind the team.

There are coaches, analysts, managers, physios, and support staff all working behind the scenes to minimise risk, maximise performance, and provide the expert insights needed to make better decisions. 📈

Organisations operate the same way.

The organisations that consistently succeed don't leave critical decisions to chance. They equip themselves with the right tools, intelligence, and support to stay ahead of challenges before they impact performance and results.

Winging it. Relying on luck. Or the 'same old same old' approach just doesn’t cut it.

Farosian helps organisations replace guesswork with the insight and data you need to make more informed decisions, mitigate risk, and build stronger teams.

So ask yourself: is your business equipped to compete at the highest level? ⭐️ Or are you fighting relegation and collecting penalties? 🚩

Baby Boomers shaped corporate structures. Generation X introduced work-life balance and embraced flexibility. Millennials accelerated digital transformation and purpose-driven workflows.

Now, Generation Z is redefining how personal identity, professional reputation, and online behaviour intersect. 💼📲

As the first generation of true digital natives, Gen Z has grown up in a world where social media isn't an optional extra, but a fundamental part of everyday life. (which is evident as 98% of them are active on social media!)

It's where they connect, learn, network, build communities, and express themselves.

Today, Gen Z makes up 27% of the global workforce.

By 2035, that figure is expected to grow to 31%, making them the largest workforce generation worldwide. 🌐

But their growing influence brings new considerations for employers.

According to recent research, 90% of Gen Z workers have experienced workplace consequences because of something they posted online, while 95% have actively avoided sharing their true opinions online out of concern that it could negatively affect their careers.

These statistics highlight a significant shift in the modern workplace: online behaviour is no longer viewed in isolation from professional life.

As workforce demographics continue to evolve, organisations need to consider whether their hiring practices, workplace policies, and approaches to social and digital media risk are evolving too. 📈

Adapting to the next generation of talent isn't just about attracting them. Organisations need to evolve alongside them and understand how a generation raised online is reshaping work.

How well do you know every individual who makes up your organisation?

Because sometimes the call really does come from inside the house. 😰🫣

The biggest risks to your organisation aren't always external or sitting in the application pool.

They can already be in your teams, gaining access through polished CVs, successful interviews, and impressive connections.

What you don't know can hurt your organisation. Social and digital media screening and continuous monitoring help close those blind spots. 🚩

The Farosian Effect: helping organisations uncover risks before they become costly realities.

No interviews, immediate rejections, cricket noises in your inbox… 👀

Maybe the problem isn’t your résumé (or that you don’t have 3-5 years of experience for an entry-level job listing).

According to StandOut CV;

📲 21% of recruiters admit to rejecting candidates after finding red flags while looking them up on Facebook.

❌ Another 5% have even cancelled interviews because of negative impressions from a candidate’s social media presence.

Long before candidates reach the formal screening stage, recruiters are already conducting surface-level online checks to avoid potentially risky applicants who could waste time, resources, and disrupt the recruitment process.

But what are some of the most common social media “red card offences” that land applications straight into a recruiter’s “no” pile? 🚩

In today’s hiring landscape, your digital footprint has the power to either block you from the candidate pool entirely, or help push you onto the shortlist.

Your online presence is no longer separate from your professional reputation.

So, is yours helping open doors? Or quietly locking you out of opportunities? 🔐

Since Australia’s social media ban for under-16s took effect in December last year, we have seen numerous other nations follow suit.

These platforms have become so deeply embedded in younger generations’ daily lives, which is exactly why governments around the world are beginning to step in. 🌍📱

From outright bans and proposed restrictions to alternative protective measures, many countries are exploring ways to effectively address the growing concerns linked to youth social media use, including cyberbullying, harmful content exposure, addiction, privacy risks, and mental well-being.

But as this global conversation continues to gain momentum, an important question remains:

Are social media bans truly the most effective solution, or is there a better balance between protection, education, accountability, and responsible platform regulation? 👀

We’re back with another edition of our Red Flag, Green Flag series, and this time, the spotlight is on Phegelelo, better known to the Farosian team as Lelo. 🚩✅

Lelo joined the Farosian team in 2019 as an intern and has been with us ever since.

⏩ Fast forward to today, and she now heads up our high-profile reports team, applying her expertise in anthropology and forensic science to every report that comes across her desk.

While Lelo may be one of the tiniest members of the Farosian team, she’s living proof that dynamite comes in small packages.

Behind the calm presence is someone who has spent years analysing online behaviour, uncovering patterns, and working through reports that range from textbook-perfect green flags to deeply disturbing red flags.

From candidates using social media to raise awareness, celebrate achievements, and promote meaningful causes, to reports filled with harmful behaviour and concerning online activity, Lelo has truly seen both ends of the spectrum. 👀

One thing her experience has reinforced? Behind every digital footprint are patterns, and patterns rarely lie.

Rage bait may have been 2025’s word of the year, but unfortunately, it’s still thriving, even in professional settings. 😅

Whether it’s outlandish misconceptions, questions with an almost comedic quality to them, or statements that leave you briefly reconsidering your career choices…

Over the past 11 years, the Farosian team has experienced their fair share of rage bait. And if you ever wanted to [hypothetically] make them slam their laptops shut, go outside, and touch grass indefinitely, this is your easy how-to guide. 👀🌱

Every industry has its own version of rage bait that makes people short-circuit for a few seconds. What’s the best one you’ve heard in yours?

A quick scroll through someone’s social media should never turn into a personal bias exercise.

But without proper screening protocols, that’s exactly what happens. 🚩🚩🚩

Samantha* wasn’t rejecting candidates because they lacked experience or qualifications.

She was making decisions based on personal bias and whether someone “felt right” to her.

And once those private hiring discussions leaked?

The company suddenly found itself facing;

😳 legal action
🫣 reputational backlash
😰 and scrutiny around fairness, discrimination, and ethics, not just in hiring practices, but across the organisation as a whole.

Social and digital media screening isn’t the problem.

The real issue is unstructured, biased screening done without safeguards, compliance frameworks, or trained professionals.

This is exactly why conducting social and digital media screening through a trusted third-party provider, like Farosian, matters. ✅

Structured processes help businesses identify legitimate risks while protecting candidates from personal bias and unethical decision-making.

One irresponsible hiring decision can damage far more than just your hiring strategy.

Don’t let hiring become a liability.
Screen with Farosian.

*In this scenario, Samantha is a fictional character, but many organisations may have their own (very real) version of her.
