It’s here! 🎉
Homeopathy at Home is now available in South Africa on Takealot.

I wrote this book to give families a simple, practical guide they can reach for when everyday illnesses happen — from coughs and colds to fevers, tummy bugs, injuries and more.

After more than 20 years in practice, I wanted to put the knowledge I teach my patients into a book that could live in your home and be there when you need it.

I've been practising homeopathy for more than 20 years.

And one of the things I still love most about my work is the moment when a confusing collection of symptoms begins to make sense.

A patient might arrive talking about fatigue.

But then we talk about her sleep.

Her digestion.

Her hormones.

The headaches she thought were unrelated.

The stress she's been carrying for months.

The way she feels after certain foods.

And gradually, a picture begins to emerge.

I think people need more opportunities to be listened to like this.

Not every symptom needs an elaborate explanation. And sometimes symptoms need conventional investigation or treatment.

But they always deserve to be taken seriously.

That philosophy is also why I wrote Homeopathy at Home.

I wanted families to have a practical guide that helps them observe symptoms carefully, understand some of the basic principles of homeopathy, and know when home treatment is—and isn't—appropriate.

After more than two decades, I'm still fascinated by the human body.

And I'm still asking questions.

One of the biggest misunderstandings about homeopathy is that there is simply a homeopathic remedy for every diagnosis.

Headache = Remedy X.
Sore throat = Remedy Y.
Cough = Remedy Z.

That's not really how individualised homeopathic prescribing works.

The details matter.

Where is it? What does it feel like? When is it worse? What makes it better? What else is happening at the same time? And what is characteristic or unusual about this person's experience?

Learning to observe those details is one of the skills I wanted to teach in Homeopathy at Home.

Because once you stop asking only “What remedy treats this condition?” and start asking “What is distinctive about this particular case?”, you begin to understand homeopathic prescribing very differently.

“I've always coped with stress. Why can't I cope anymore?”

I hear versions of this from women in their 40s surprisingly often.

Perimenopause isn't only about hot flushes and changing periods.

Changes in mood, sleep, anxiety and stress tolerance can be part of the picture too.

And because perimenopause can begin while you're still having regular periods, the hormonal connection isn't always obvious.

It also shouldn't automatically be assumed to be hormones. New or significant anxiety deserves proper assessment, particularly when it is severe or interfering with daily life.

But knowing that hormonal changes can contribute may help some women make sense of a period in their lives that otherwise feels very confusing.

Play, joy, and love are biological necessities, and the science is unambiguous. 🧬

Laughter lowers cortisol and epinephrine, crying releases built-up nervous system tension, hugging shifts you out of fight-or-flight and into calm, singing stimulates the vagus nerve (which governs your heart rate, digestion, and immune response) and dancing actually promotes the growth of new brain cells.

These aren’t fringe concepts, this is your physiology responding to joy in real time.

We’ve built entire industries around optimizing food, sleep, and exercise, and those things matter deeply, but joy, play, and love belong in that same conversation.

Think of them as part of your health stack — non-negotiable, not optional, and available to you right now.

Joy IS health.

Treating the whole person rather than only the diagnosis provides much better results in homeopathy

“The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease.”
— William Osler

Three people may all suffer from headaches… but each person’s story can be completely different.

One person may get headaches just before the menstrual cycle starts, with pain focused in the left temple.
Another may feel pressure on the top of the head after stressful days at work.
A third person may live in a difficult or abusive relationship and carry constant tension in the back of the head.

The symptom may look the same on the surface, but the underlying cause can be very different.

This is one of the reasons why homeopathy looks at the person as a whole, not only at the diagnosis itself. Until the deeper pattern is addressed, the body may continue to repeat the same symptoms.

If you would like to learn how remedies are chosen based on the individual person rather than only the disease name, join our One Day Workshop for Beginners online on the 24th of May.

You will learn:
• what homeopathy is
• how remedies work
• how to choose remedy strengths
• simple remedies for common acute ailments at home

We would love to have you there! Visit our bio or www.ish.ie/courses for more information.

Skin is often a reflection of internal imbalance.

Remedies to consider:

🌿 Sulphur – dry, itchy, worse from heat, scratching brings relief
🌿 Graphites – cracked, oozing, sticky skin
🌿 Rhus tox – itchy rash with small blisters, better with warmth
🌿 Apis mellifica – swollen, red, burning, stinging skin

Suppressing skin symptoms isn’t the answer—understanding them is.

Healing from within creates lasting change 🌿
