Another week in Nairobi, and another opportunity to spend time with the people building Africa’s Internet.

Workonline is proud to be a Bronze Sponsor of the 4th Kenya Peering Forum (KePF), taking place on 11 September.

Hosted by TESPOK KENYA, KePF brings Kenya’s Internet ecosystem together to talk peering, interconnection, infrastructure, policy and what comes next for connectivity across the region.

For us, these forums matter. They bring operators, IXPs, content providers, data centres, policymakers and the wider technical community into the same room, creating the conversations and relationships that ultimately build stronger, more resilient networks.

After a busy few weeks across Africa’s Internet community, we’re looking forward to seeing many familiar faces again, meeting some new ones and continuing the conversation in Nairobi.

Before AfPIF gets into full swing, we’re making space for connection, conversation and a little creativity in Kigali.

On Monday, 17 August, together with LINX - London Internet Exchange we'll co-host the WomenTechConnect Paint & Sip Social, an afternoon set aside for creativity, conversation and connection with women across the internet infrastructure community.

This is a chance to step out of the conference flow for a few hours, meet new people, reconnect with familiar faces and be part of a growing community that continues to make space for women in tech.

The social is open to anyone registered for , but places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

The Workonline Communications team is at Africa Tech Festival this week, and it feels great to be back!

We’re catching up with partners, peers, and friends from around the world, and it’s clear there’s a strong international energy again this year. Conversations about IP transit, interconnection, and global connectivity are in full flow, and the momentum feels stronger than ever.

We’ll be rounding off the week on Thursday with one of our favourite traditions: the South African Peering Forum. What started as a small gathering in 2015 has grown into a fixture on the week's events, bringing together engineers and network operators to exchange insights, best practices, and ideas shaping the future of internet peering and exchanges.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Fearghas McKay, a true doyen of the internet community.
Fearghas touched so many of our lives through his generosity, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to building relationships and connections that strengthened our industry. He believed in the power of community and played a pivotal role in shaping it for the better.
At Workonline, we feel privileged to have known and learned from him. His legacy will continue to inspire those of us who had the honour of crossing paths with him, both professionally and personally.
He will be sorely missed, but the impact he leaves behind is lasting and profound.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the many communities he influenced around the world.
