The brutal statistics are that 400 000 matriculants will join the ranks of the unemployed in South Africa. Of the students that go to university to study, only 15% actually graduate. One of the reasons given is that school leavers are ill equipped with the tools they need to survive in the real world. Jozi Gap Year aims to ensure our students are not one of those statistics! ach Jozi Gap Year will equip our student’s with life skills, as well as the foundational learning skills they will need to help them to find their wings in whatever direction they choose to fly. Set in the heart of Lonehill, Jozi Gap Year provides an ideal setting for balancing academic learning with the tranquility of the outdoors and outdoor activities. In a relaxed, homely environment Jozi Gap Year will prepare our students for the world of work, university and college and guide them towards self-employment by helping them to discover the entrepreneur within. Reaching beyond into the local disadvantaged communities, Jozi Gap Year will, through community involvement projects, infuse compassion and self-awareness in our students. Life coaching will help them change any self-limiting beliefs and set realistic goals for themselves. Adventure activities will remind our student’s that it is important to also have fun! Jozi Gap Year will show them just how to juggle work and play to achieve the balance necessary to succeed in both their spheres of career success and personal satisfaction! All in all, Jozi Gap Year will provide our students with a sound foundation on which they can build a great and productive career path together with a well-rounded and enjoyable personal life plan!
