Well I managed to get the SANSUI tape belts right after all - it took two separate belts not one long belt to get it working and once one worked - the other deck followed

Struggling to find the right way to put the belts onto a SANSUI D99D dual deck - every way I hang the belts the drives go the wrong direction...

Its too long since I did a post - so here goes what's been on my repairs list for the last month - Turntables - Sansui PL50, Luxor, Philips, Pioneer PL320, B&O 4000 , Kenwood, Technics, Garrard, SONY, Thorens, - Amplifiers - Rotel, JVC Quadraphonic, Sansui A7, NAD (Recap), Aiwa MiniFi, AUDIOLAB 8000P, Marantz Vintage, Russian amp with everything marked in Russian, a couple of Cassette Tape decks including a Nakamichi 3 head deck and two SONAB, and a whole bunch of speaker repairs. This month has had a flow of amplifiers from TEAC and NAD and YAMAHA to B&O and Kenwood and SANSUI and a Cyrus left channel faulty.

I continue to do my two weekly collection and delivery route on alternate Wednesdays to pick up faulty items one week and two weeks later deliver repairs. The route is Fourways Midrand Centurion Pretoria and then down to Kempton Boksburg Benoni and Edenvale before heading back to Home in Wilgeheuwel.

Six to Ten calls makes this viable with a small collection / delivery fee and the convenience of the home service seems to please my customers and I get to chat with new friends every time...

Cant remember when last I wrote a post - but here goes a brief note about what I have been up to in Lockdown Phase 5. First week Radiogram repairs slash upgrades - Art Deco sliding Door Radiogram amp is working but no Tuner - fitted a MP3 / FM Tuner / Bluetooth / AUX unit with remote control and fixed and serviced the Turntable. All functional now. Ball and Claw Radiogram with old Valve amp and tuner has valves missing and unable to source. Also fitted the same device with Remote to the Radiogram and Repaired and Serviced the Turntable to work on manual only. Used a little digital amp with 2.1 stereo and Sub and the unit is working nicely. Customer seems to be missing in action and I hope he appears again after lockdown. Otherwise it will have to be sold to defray expenses.... Repaired and service a BnO Turntable and a BnO Cassette Tape deck - all ready for customer - the third item is a tangential tracking arm BnO Turntable and I am having difficulty getting the arm to find the LP start. Will spend some more time on that next week. Last week was exclusively dedicated to a Phase Linear 700 amplifier - a beast with 350 REAL watts per channel and a HUGE 30kg Transformer packaged into the housing. The unit had been a bit butchered by another and I have had multiple faults to correct. I have today managed to get hold of the correct service manual which will help me to get to the bottom of the DC bias on the left channel output. The right channel is working - Shew!!!
I have a long list of people who would like items repaired and want some items I have on sale - but this lockdown....

I guess thats enough for today - hoping to collect some transistors at the Post Office when they open Saturday and also send a customer some Stylii so that they can listen to their LP collection in Lockdown

Thats all Folks

Forgive the lack of posting - been hectic with Radiogram Upgrades and some amplifier and CD player and Turntable repairs. All seem to want the units done before xmas - so I must do my best to help.

Turntables have still been the main activity last week and I received some stock sets of components for Radiogram Upgrades - Amps, Tuner/MP3/Bluetooth players. Repairs are taking most of my time and many enquiries are coming in. It seems that "getting it done before Christmas" is the motivator.

This week has been Turntables and more turntables. Clearly Vynil is back with a vengeance and many people want the touchy feely interaction with their discs and music instead of the remote access we have all grown used to.

Thank you all those that Liked my page. I am trying out FB as a new way to connect with my customers.

Vinyl is definitely popular again, I have seen some new Sony Bluetooth enabled Turntables on sale for those that want to connect their systems wirelessly.
I have had quite a few Vintage Radiograms to Repair and Upgrade.
Those which were beyond repair I have installed a new Tiny FM Tuner and USB and Bluetooth to Phone player with a Digital Amplifier connected to the Original Speakers.
This gives the Vintage Radiogram NEW LIFE.
