Babelfish Communications is a Digital Communications and ICT Managed Services Company. Our business was established with the aim of creating big-business functionality for small and medium businesses.
The Babel Fish is a fictional species of fish invented by Douglas Adams in 1978 in his book “The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy”. In the story, The Babel Fish is small, yellow, and simultaneously translates from one spoken language to another. When inserted into the ear, its nutrition processes convert sound waves into brain waves, neatly crossing the language divide between any species you should happen to meet whilst travelling in space.
We created Babelfish Communications with a similar goal, that of converting technical “geek-speak” into easily understood English that the least technically minded person could understand.
In our earliest days, we struggled with customers not taking us seriously and not trusting us because we operated on cell phone numbers and had no website to direct them to. Larger companies, with the capital to appear more professional were attracting our potential customers because they had landlines with Receptionists and professional websites that customers could visit, and this gave them a level of credibility and trustworthiness that we could not.
We have since put all these things in place but added to that, we have created the ability for other start-ups and small businesses to have access to these big business tools at prices that they can easily afford. We offer cost effective VoIP landlines, domain and email hosting and website development as well as computer hardware and software sales and support. We were fortunate in that even before the pandemic hit us, we were able to provide remote support services to our clients and continue to do so as best practice, due to the pandemic. We do not tie you into long-term contracts, everything we offer is month to month.
