We are excited to announce that Sol Plaatje Local Municipality has been awarded a grant from National Treasury, enabling the rollout of smart prepaid electricity meters as part of our ongoing modernization project. This rollout will bring several benefits to our community, including:

Public Notice: Please be on the lookout for technicians who will be installing the new meters in your homes. These technicians can be identified by their blue work overalls and ID tags with their photo and identity numbers. We kindly ask that you welcome them into your homes.

HXE130 is a new generation of single phase Direct Connected prepayment/post-payment meter which migrating STS/CTS with AMI functions. It provides local and remote credit charging. The meter is supported by Hexing’s AMI and vending system software. The meter can be designed by integrated type or split type.

Hexing Electrical South Africa (Pty) LTD develops a mature loss management platform ATC&C (Aggregate Technical, Commercial & Collection) to monitor, locate and analysis a combination of different technical and non-technical losses.
It represents overall and individual losses based on 4 different resources (feeder, transformer area, voltage level & zone).

In case there is no access to some metering nodes over lack of communication channel in meter, an advanced HHU can collect data and immediately transfer to HES over cellular 3G/4G network.

AMI (Advance Metering Infrastructure) is a mature smart energy management platform interacting with different smart meters and sensors over a range of reliable communication channels (RS485/M-Bus/PLC/GPRS/3G/4G/RF/LoRa/NB-IoT/Ethernet).

Representing AMI solution includes smart meters, reliable communication modules, multi-functional data concentrators and interoperable advanced data collection system (HES). It designed based on cloud structure and supports variety of protocols including but not limited to DLMS COSEM, IDIS, IEC61968/61970 and different communications.

AMI platform actualized then settled in most of utilities' short or long term road maps to be an appropriate structure for residential and C&I metering , Demand Side Management and smart Home applications all resulting in workable loss reduction solution.
