FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF THE CEO ON THE RECENT Q2 2026 LABOUR FORCE STATISTICS
TSAKANE, GAUTENG :Following the release of the Q2 2026 Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) by Statistics South Africa today, revealing an increase in the official unemployment rate to 33.6% and a youth unemployment figure reaching 47.4%, TG Proprietary Limited (TG Academy) issues the following statement:
"The latest labour statistics confirm what many in our communities experience daily: the challenge of unemployment remains an urgent crisis requiring aggressive, practical, and targeted interventions. With unemployed youth numbers rising to 5.0 million nationwide, traditional pathways into the workforce are no longer sufficient on their own.
At TG Academy, we view these numbers not as a reason for despair, but as a urgent call to action. Economic resilience in South Africa will be driven from the ground up—through local skills development, vocational training, leadership mentorship, and entrepreneurship.
We remain fully committed to expanding our youth leadership and skills programs across Gauteng and neighboring regions. By equipping young people with practical skills, digital literacy, and entrepreneurial tools, we can help bridge the gap between job seeking and active economic participation.
We call on local business leaders, community stakeholders, and corporate partners to join hands with us in creating sustainable pathways for our youth."
