π© DFM TIP: Stop ripping your sheet metal at the bend line.
If your fl**ge is flush with the edge, you need relief. No relief = torn edge + cracked tooling + ugly part.
My rule of thumb for mild steel / stainless:
β
Bend relief depth = at least bend radius + material thickness
β
Width = at least 1.5x thickness (or 1x thickness if space is tight)
β
Never leave a sharp inside corner on relief β add a min Γ1.5mm radius
β
Relief goes past bend line, not just to it
Bonus: If you can, make it rectangular, not round. Lasers cut it faster and it doesn't trap stress.
Drop a DXF in comments if you want me to mark your reliefs.
