🚨 NEVER use a standard bulb test light on a modern ECU!
In this video, we have a dead Nissan Murano MEC63 computer box that came into the workshop with zero life—no power, no comms, total blackout.
The customer was diagnosing an ignition issue using a basic bulb test light on the coil signal wire. What they didn't realize is that the inductive feedback from that test light spikes straight back into the board! It instantly fried the coil driver, and the short was so severe it took out the internal voltage regulator on its way down the power rail.
Watch us remove the blown components, solder in fresh replacement ICs, and test it on our bench rig to bring this ECU back from the dead! ⚡🛠️
Lesson learned: Always use an LED logic probe, a digital multimeter, or an oscilloscope when probing ECU circuits—a R50 test light can end up costing you thousands!

BMW E90 owners, watch out for this! 🚨

​Clogged drains are one of the most common causes of a fried water-damaged computer box (ECU/DME) on the E90 platform. When rain or wash water can’t drain properly, it fills up the compartment and destroys the electronics. Make sure you clean your drain system regularly! 💦

​For this job, we took the water-damaged ECU, manually read and extracted the Immo data off the board, and used that data to program a replacement ECU we supplied for the customer. Plug and play, back on the road! 🚗💨
