From 20–22 May 2026, industry leaders, farmers, entrepreneurs, investors, stakeholders researchers and government gathered at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in KuGompo City (East London) for the inaugural Africa Agricultural Indaba.
Day one saw the Eastern Cape Premier Hon. Oscar Mabuyane, Provincial Department of Agriculture MEC Hon. Nonceba Kontsiwe and Acting Executive Mayor Cllr Sakhumzi Caga speaking at the opening of the Indaba, where all three reaffirmed the government’s commitment to growing the Eastern Cape’s agricultural sector.
On day two during session two our Business Development Manager, Dr Justy Range took the stage to speak on “Horticultural Value Chains: knowing the market and understanding packaging and product standards”. This session was dedicated for industry discussions and saw representatives from Coega Development Corporation, East London Industrial Development Zone (ELIDZ) and Vodacom speaking on topics such as agricultural technology, agro-processing and aquaculture – challenges, opportunities, current successes and constraints facing the industries.
Throughout the three days, delegates engaged in crucial discussions around food security, agro-processing, market access, farmer empowerment, job creation and inclusion with exhibitors showcased their respective organisations, innovative products and services while demonstrating the Eastern Cape agricultural sector’s diversity. The Indaba was concluded on day three with the signing of the Africa Agricultural Indaba Pledge, reaffirming a collective commitment to collaboration, innovation, sustainability and inclusive growth within the agriculture sector.
