Getting into 3D printing can feel a little overwhelming at first.

The machines, the settings, the filaments — it's a lot.

That's exactly why we started M2 3D Printing. Our mission is to walk beside you from finding the right printer, to your first successful print, to designing your own creations.

Every step of the way.

That’s why our mission is so simple: Get you printing – Keep you printing

When M2 first started, it looked very different from what it does today.

Like many small businesses, it began in a modest space at home — a few printers running constantly, shelves slowly filling with filament, tools scattered across tables, and that unmistakable soundtrack of stepper motors humming late into the night. At the time, we were simply doing what we loved and hoping there were other people out there who loved it too.

Turns out… there were a lot of them.

What began as a passion project quickly started growing faster than we ever expected. More customers. More printers. More repairs. More stock. More late-night packing sessions. And somehow, despite our best attempts at “keeping things organised,” the house slowly started losing the battle against boxes, parts, tools, and half-finished prototypes.

At some point, it became clear:M2 needed a real workshop.
So at the beginning of 2022, we took a huge step forward and built a dedicated workshop space right here in Durbanville.

We Have a WhatsApp Group — And It’s Pretty Great

One of the things we’re most proud of at M2 isn’t just the printers, the filament, or the workshop — it’s the community that’s grown around it.

Members regularly share:

Print settings and troubleshooting advice
CAD tips and design help
Upgrade recommendations
Finished projects and ideas
Slicer profiles and filament suggestions
Repair advice and setup guidance
Supplier recommendations
Memes… because no 3D printing group survives without memes

But one of the coolest parts? People actively support each other’s businesses and side hustles too.

Is 3D printing still just for geeks in the backroom ?

Not anymore. Machines have come so far that there's now one to suit every person — the plug-and-play mom printing handy gadgets for the house, the curious kid exploring CAD, and the brave dad upgrading every bolt and bracket.

3D printing is becoming a household item, just like a computer.

Where do you fit in?

Meet the Team Behind M2 3D Printing

We’re Mark, Lani and Rikus — the faces behind M2 3D Printing, a small family-run workshop based in Durbanville, Cape Town. What started as a fascination with 3D printers, endless test prints, and “just one more upgrade” quickly turned into a business built on passion, problem-solving, and a genuine love for making things.

From hobbyists printing their very first Benchy to businesses needing reliable machines, parts, filament, or support, we’ve built M2 around one simple idea: helping people feel at home in the world of 3D printing. Whether you’re completely new to the industry or deep down the rabbit hole of nozzle sizes and layer heights, we’re here to help without the jargon, gatekeeping, or confusion.

Our workshop runs from home, which means every order, repair, printer setup, late-night troubleshooting message, and carefully packed spool comes from real people who truly care about what they do. We’re not a giant corporation with a ticketing system and hold music — we’re a small team that understands the excitement of a new printer arriving, and the panic when one suddenly decides spaghetti art belongs on the print bed instead.

Meet the Crew:

Mark – Stock, Printing & CAD Design. Mark is the guy behind the scenes making sure shelves stay stocked, printers stay running, and designs come to life.

Rikus – Workshop, Repairs, Classes, Printing & CAD Design. Rikus is the hands-on fixer and workshop wizard.

Lani – Accounts & Admin. Lani keeps the chaos organised.

Welcome to the M2 family.
