Northbound Networks is thrilled to share that the NMU AEDG team successfully defended their title at the UFS KOVSIES Eco-Vehicle 2.0 competition on Saturday, 29 August 2026, winning the Endurance Race for the second consecutive year. 🚀
The race tested teams on laps completed, energy usage, driver changes and the challenging Joker Lap.
NMU AEDG team member Abhay Daya shared:
“After much testing, fine-tuning and lots of hours of work, we finally entered the race. It didn’t start according to plan, with our smart lap being invalidated due to a throttle issue. After returning to the pits and speaking to officials, we took a five-second penalty to run our smart lap before starting the Endurance Race.
Our strategy was simple: conserving energy was our main priority. We started at around six to seven minutes per lap, moved to around four minutes through the middle of the race, and in the final 10–12 minutes instructed our driver to pick up the pace, averaging a consistent two minutes per lap.
At one point, we had around ±10% more energy left than our competitors. NMU was also one of only two teams to complete the Joker Lap correctly on Lap 2, so we knew we had made the right strategy call, backed by a great team.
We held our fingers, praying that all our hard work would pay off, and it did. NMU now holds two consecutive Endurance Race titles for the KOVSIES Eco-Vehicle 2.0 competition.
We are extremely thankful to all our sponsors, lecturers, friends and family who supported us and believed in us.”
A huge congratulations to the entire team. Northbound Networks is proud to support NMU AEDG and celebrate this incredible achievement. 🏆
