Medical update on Kiara:
Walked into a friends home today and saw this written in their kitchen. Very grateful for everyone who has prayed, supported and encouraged us. Thank you again and again and again!
This morning we saw the neurosurgeon who wanted to change Kiara’s wound dressings and inspect how everything is going.
The brain swelling is coming down nicely and for the first time there is ‘softness’ under the skin flap (which is a good thing).
Kiara’s hair is growing which is indicative of her head skin being healthy.
Her wound on the back of her head is not healing as quickly as he would like, and it is not yet in the clear of being a potential problem. Although he, and the plastic surgeon, believe it hasn’t gone through all the layers of skin, the healing has not yet confirmed that.
Her abdomen wound has healed nicely and we trust that her skull bone will be reflective of what can be seen externally.
The neuro is aiming at doing the cranioplasty (skull bone back) during the week of the 11th Feb but he can only confirm that closer to the time.
Kiara in herself is feeling positive and happy, taking this all in her stride.
Our prayers are centered around:
1. Kiara’s body remaining free from infection.
2. The swelling would continue to go down to what is considered normal.
3. The sore/wound/burn on the back of her head would heal quickly and well.
4. The skull bone would be healthy and ready to put back.
5. Her ability to communicate and express herself would come back.
