Our DevOps team recently built a bare-metal Kubernetes infrastructure from the ground up, spanning three environments for our client. It now runs high-traffic systems with enhanced telemetry and performance monitoring throughout.

The payoff: fewer issues in production, richer telemetry to catch and diagnose bugs faster, and far stronger disaster recovery — all on a platform built to scale.

This is the kind of work we love: helping clients move from monolithic legacy systems onto a current, modern tech stack.

Kaleidocoders harness the strengths of AI, but look beyond it as it becomes part of their natural habitat. Our engineers are very good at framing problems, making trade-offs and exercising judgement under uncertainty which is what helps us thrive in an AI-native world.

From a senior engineering perspective, AI does not reduce the importance of architecture, systems thinking, or operational awareness.
If anything, it increases their importance. Because when teams can ship faster, bad decisions also arrive faster.

The hardest questions in software have never been: “How do I write this function❓”

The hardest questions are:
🤔 What problem are we solving?
🤔 What trade-offs are acceptable?
🤔 What happens six months from now?
🤔 How does this evolve safely?

AI has very little understanding of those questions.
Humans still own them.

Last Friday, we swapped keyboards for cowboy boots as Kaleidocode embraced the spirit of the 2026 Durban July Handicap, with our own Country Allure social event! 🤠🐎

One of the highlights of the afternoon was our horse-picking draw, where staff were randomly assigned a horse competing in the big race. As the excitement unfolded over the weekend, our lucky winners claimed the top three spots and won some prizes!

More than the competition, it was an opportunity to step away from our desks, catch up with colleagues across different teams, share a few laughs, and enjoy some well-deserved downtime together.

A big congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the afternoon such a fun and memorable one. Here's to more moments that bring our team together! 🎉

One of our favourite things is our internal knowledge sharing sessions — as craftspeople, we know iron sharpens iron. This month, one of our Devs Matt walked us through the concepts behind the agentic coding landscape:

- Agents & agent harnesses

- Tools & the Model Context Protocol (MCP)

- Skills

- Miscellaneous features (hooks, rules, loops)

One highlight: seeing how new ideas like MCP map onto things web developers already know well, like REST APIs.

Before you can decide the best way to use a tool, you first need to know what's actually on the table — that's exactly what this session gave the team: a shared "what," so future conversations about the "how" and "why" can build from common ground.
