Busy recreating some labs from the Juniper Day One books inside Containerlab, I'm using some vMXs since my nested virtualisation gets a bit weird with vRouter and vEX. Only 30Gb memory getting used which is really not to bad considering that's 9 Juniper routers inside my machine and 6 MikroTik RouterOS CHRs running at the same time.

Still need to actually run config but just happy seeing the nodes are in a good working state post boot is already fantastic progress.

So this is really handy! I'm able to quickly build a topology from the vendor documentation (This case Juniper) by scraping the config and converting it with a python script to easy set commands and then using those outputs to build a startup configuration in Containerlab to bring the lab to life in one easy command.

And the cool thing is how easy it would be to share this topolgy with someone else who is using Containerlab. Or if I just want to remember how to do that one thing I can dive into the lab and play around until it clicks again.

Here I was able to bring up a quick EVPN Lab with MikroTiks acting as the hosts and the solution is working as expected!

I've decided to try out Containerlab after a catastrophic disaster with my EVE-NG Pro VM. So far I think this is really solid and so lightweight. I've already got 2 MikroTik nodes talking to eachother and will build off a proper lab to test things with but just seeing the nodes come online and being able to connect to them has impressed me.

I knew something was up when I could no longer access the old wiki/docs for MikroTik, but it seems like they have silently given the latest (Stable) on ROSv7.20 build the long awaited and much anticipated LTS stamp of approval. It might still lack features/functionality you're after, but it's awesome to see MikroTik is finally saying "Hey this version, it's pretty good. Please use this!"
