A “quick braai” is never quick.
And no matter what the calendar says, the Springboks off-season lasts somewhere between six months and a full geological era.

According to absolutely no reputable scientific institution whatsoever, the period between the Boks’ last game and their first proper return each year has now been classified as “unnecessarily long”.

Researchers reached this conclusion after months of observation, several winter braais, and at least one argument in a family WhatsApp group about who should be starting at flyhalf.
