Expanding into new countries usually means one thing: a marketing team scrambling to translate content, then watching organic traffic barely move.

Here's why. Google needs to know which page serves which country and language. Without proper subdirectory structure (like /uk/ or /us/) and hreflang tags, search engines guess. And guessing means your French page might rank in Canada while your US page shows up in the UK.

For multi-country builds, we set this up properly from day one. Subdirectories keep everything under one strong domain instead of splitting authority across separate sites, plus they allow you to show users different content based on their IP.

Hreflang tags tell Google exactly which version to serve, to whom, and where. When we build on WordPress, WPML handles the content management side, but the technical SEO architecture around it is what actually makes international visibility work for your business.

Growing into new markets should grow your traffic too, not confuse it.

That was our client, StickyThings’, reality. A plugin conflict had broken their sitemap, layout shift scores were five times over Google's limit, their homepage performance sat at 56/100. Google simply couldn't crawl or trust the site anymore.

We rebuilt the technical foundation and the entire product taxonomy from the ground up. No shortcuts or quick fixes, just the structural work that actually moved rankings.

The result: Performance jumped from 56 to 99, SEO hit a perfect 100, and layout shift dropped from 0.534 to 0.015.
