We at Fibre at Home often find that some customers aren’t fully aware of how the fibre process works, so let’s quickly break it down in a simple way.
Fibre is a month-to-month service, which gives you flexibility and full control over your connection.
Installation and activation through Fibre at Home are currently offered at no upfront cost, and a router is included for you to use. Because of this, a 12-month service agreement applies to the installation benefit.
This simply means that the installation support is linked to keeping the service active for 12 months, which allows providers to continue offering free setup and activation. Once the 12-month period from activation has passed, there are no additional installation-related fees.
Even though it is a month-to-month service, we do require a full calendar month’s notice if you decide to cancel or relocate your service. This is required so we can properly notify the relevant fibre network operator, such as Vumatel, Openserve, Frogfoot, Metrofibre, Thinkspeed, Balwin Fibre, Octotel, or Vodacom Fibre.
The installation cost is approximately R1000, depending on the fibre network operator’s installation requirements. This cost is covered upfront by the service provider to ensure you are connected quickly and smoothly.
At Fibre at Home, our goal is always to keep things clear and simple so you know exactly what to expect from day one.
This is a simple breakdown of how fibre works in South Africa.
