Does your diesel ever touch a public road?
If you are running tractors, harvesters, loaders, dozers or generators, a good share of it does not. And that diesel qualifies for a refund of the road levy you paid on it.
Two things changed this year:
⚙️ Farms, forestry operations and onland mines can now claim 100% of eligible off-road diesel, up from 80%, effective 1 April 2026. ⚙️ The refund has moved to its own SARS process, separate from your VAT return, with its own registration.
The catch is the same as it has always been. SARS wants to see proof, machine by machine, litre by litre. Handwritten logbooks and a fuel bowser nobody meters are how good claims get disallowed.
AFTECH's fuel management and tank gauging systems record every drawdown automatically — which vehicle, which driver, how many litres, at what time, at what hour-meter reading. It is the record SARS asks for, built while you work.
