ATTENTION!!!
Due to the drastic increase in demand for hardrive, ssds, nvme and ram for usage in AI infrastructure; as well as decisions on manufacturerint and pricing structures by major chip makers and manufacturers. The market for these products has become volatile. This has led to suppliers tightening their control on supply of ALL storage devices such as internal and external hardrives and ssds, nvme drives, flash drives and all memory products such as DDR5 and DDR4 RAM; extreme market volatility and immediate and severe pressure on prices.
With immediate effect from our suppliers, there will be no back ordering of any memory and storage related products, products can only be order when payment has been received in full by the above mentioned suppliers and constant price increases with daily changes.
An extract from one of our leading suppliers:
"Market Drivers & Outlook
The market is being driven by:
Manufacturer Restrictions: All DRAM manufacturers (including Micron, Crucial, Patriot, Corsair, ADATA, and others) have suspended or restricted price releases. Major chipmakers have paused new DRAM and DDR5 contract pricing.
Surging AI Demand: Increased demand from hyperscale and enterprise data centers for AI infrastructure (HBM, NAND Flash, and DDR5) is straining supply chains.
Price Forecasts: DRAM contract prices are expected to rise significantly (e.g., 18β23% in Q4 2025) with continued upward movement predicted into 2026, especially for DDR5 and server memory."
What does this mean for us as a business and for you as the cosumers?:
1. The increase in demand alone will lead to a surge in prices. That paired with a shortage in manufacturing will lead to a scarcity of these products and an even more severe price increaelse.
2. As mentioned in nr1. Storage and memory will be more scarce and tightly regulated by the suppliers which can lead to a back log of orders and shortage of products.
3. As we saw during the Covid 19 Lockdown in 2020. Some individuals, known as scalpers, will mass buy these products. And resell them online on market place like forums and site at an engorged and astronomical price, this can lead to an even further increase in prices from manufacturers.
With the shortage and price increase, aquiring new storage devices or replacing old and failing ones might be difficult. As advice we recommend you as our customers and general consumers invest in cloud storage as a backup even if it is just for the most crucial of data.
There are multiple platforms and cloud based storage suppliers out there and although we as Smithian It and Tech Solutions does not offer one of out own we will be glad to refer you to some of our trusted providers.
