Circle of Trust - What we do!

We are an on-demand local services platform where clients use their computer or smartphone to hire someone. (Uber is the most famous example at the moment)

Whether you need a plumber, a babysitter, a photographer, or maybe just someone to walk your pets - it could be a house sitter, a web developer, a bookkeeper, a tutor, your tax returns, that perfect baby sitter, a coach, an electrician. It could just be to deliver groceries, do your laundry, walk your dog, get a document notarised and almost anything else you can imagine.

To be part of our launch please go to our sign in page and tell us whether you are a client or business owner - www.cotsign.co.za/

Why SA needs on-demand local services (a bit of a read - but worth it)

I am talking Uber for plumbers, electricians, babysitters, temps, house sitter, web developer, bookkeeper, tutor etc.

It not about pushing a button and have something happen – it is about trusting people. Allow me to 5 min to explain.

South Africans are a very-cynical group of people. We have seen too much, lived through too much. We don’t easily trust strangers to do a job for us, we have too many fears about them. We live in a state of both fear and exhaustion when parting with our money. We are jaded – lacking in enthusiasm – assuming the worst.

The problem with trust is that up until now there is no reliable way for a stranger to prove to you they are trustworthy. Of course, there are the ‘proxy tests’ we are forced to use – do they have an expensive shirt? What car do they drive? What sort of accent do they have? Do they smile nicely?

But these are poor substitutes and all too often plain inaccurate – they can lead you to trust the wrong strangers, and they can lead you to reject those who would really have actually done a good job for you. If the ‘proxy tests’ worked well we would not be as cynical as we are.

Well it is with this vision in mind we built the Circle of Trust services platform. There is a saying “There are no bad people – just bad systems”. Well we have worked harder than we could have imagined to build a system that works towards achieving this vision. A platform that even jaded people just like us can use and after a while become un-jaded again.

Sure – when we launch we will be 50% of the way towards this vision of absolute trust. It will take a little longer to get the rest of the way, but those of you who want to come along for the journey, you can be a small part of the creation of something that genuinely improves things for everyone – and even for the very cynical among you – that may just be something worth doing.

The On Demand Economy

The current global economy is undergoing a major shift driven by the human desire for instant gratification. Our smartphones are becoming the remote controls to our lives.

Due to their constant state of internet-connectivity and close proximity to our bodies, smartphones have opened up a new market for on demand services. Today’s on demand services take convenience to an new level, and you gotta admit, it’s pretty nice from the consumer.

Just open the app, push a button, and voila – you have a ride, a date, or staying in someones apartment. Soon Amazon will be delivering to you, on the same day, via a drone. Already Uber is so efficient that you can get picked up in a major city in under 5 minutes, no matter where or what time of day it is.

But what happens when our insatiable appetite for immediate gratification comes up against services that have historically been anything but on demand or instant?

Need a plumber, someone to walk my gran, wedding, moving, photographer, flash mob to propose, legal documents, modelling extra, house sitter, maths tutor, cleaning, bookkeeping, tax returns, legal advice, baby sitting, coaching, electrician, deliver groceries, do your laundry, walk your dog, get a document notarized, and almost anything else you can imagine.

Well now there is – we are launching Circle of Trust - the on demand platform for services in one place.

It is no longer a question of if the on-demand economy will revolutionise the way people transact or create thousands of jobs... this is already happening.

Freelance labour is not a new phenomenon. Before online platforms, service professionals were found by word of mouth, search engines and places like Yellow Pages. Now on-demand service platforms and apps have the ability find the right person for the job and still have the ability to track and vet people through a peer-reviewed platform therefore increasing both safety and financial risks. On-demand apps promise service providers flexibility and access to potential untapped market and new clients.

Online platforms open up the door to entrepreneurship for workers who would not otherwise be able to connect to a large market. Online platforms can act as “finishing schools” in some cases, allowing potential entrepreneurs to grow their skills before opening brick-and-mortar businesses.

This is especially true when workers can sell their products or services direct to the consumer - but for many, the benefit of on-demand work is that it’s the best option in our declining job market.

WHEN PEOPLE TALK about innovation, the term “disruptive” often tags along. It's not a “disruptor,” it is a “creator.” It creates new ways of doing things, new solutions to old problems. At a fundamental level, it creates opportunity.

The innovative ideas that have emerged have created new ways for consumers to obtain the services they need while simultaneously creating great new opportunities for the people who are ready to supply those services. In the case of our platform, we’ve have now made it easier for people who need services (from plumbing, cleaning to walking the dog) to connect with qualified professionals who provide those services.

More importantly, we’re connecting professionals to new opportunities to make money.
