Lesson 1 (Introduction 2024):
Entrepreneurship; Hard Truth.
Congratulations on beginning the IMPLIMENTATION phase of your entrepreneurship journey with me as your guide.
I know the idea of becoming an entrepreneur is indeed thrilling. The freedom, the creativity, the potential for success—these aspects fuel the fire within every aspiring business owner. But beneath this allure lies a harsh reality: making money in the world of entrepreneurship is really hard. It's often an arduous journey fraught with challenges and setbacks.
The excitement of the general idea of entrepreneurship often conceals the trials and tribulations that come with it. The journey isn’t a straight line to success; it's a winding road filled with unexpected detours, failures, and moments of self-doubt. It demands far more than just a groundbreaking idea; it requires resilience, unwavering determination, and the ability to weather storms that seem relentless.
Be Humble: Embrace Resilience
Resilience is the cornerstone of every successful entrepreneur’s story. It’s about facing failure, rejection, and uncertainty head-on, and still summoning the strength to push forward. I also have had days when even waking up was hard. Resilience isn’t just bouncing back from setbacks; it’s about accepting the tough and unpalatable realities of life, learning to embrace adversity without losing focus, adapting to the often sudden and unpredictable changes of the playing field, and growing stronger with each challenge encountered.
Acknowledge the Brutal Nature of Reality
The journey of entrepreneurship is brutal, with its unrelenting demands, sleepless nights, and moments when the odds seem insurmountable. It requires a deep understanding that success isn’t immediate. It’s built through sweat, sacrifice, and an unyielding dedication to your vision, even when the world seems to doubt its viability. Very few people will even listen to you or consider you, let alone help you.
Find Purpose Your Journey: Otherwise, You Will Give Up.
All successful people I know have one thing in common. An absolute sense of purpose. Amidst the chaos and uncertainty, there’s an unparalleled sense of fulfilment that comes from building something from scratch. It’s about pursuing a passion, solving problems, and making a meaningful impact on yourself, your family and friends, your country and the world. Every setback becomes a lesson, every challenge an opportunity for growth. Take everything with positivity. Smile a lot. Be strong. Survive.
What I need you to know is that the journey you have embarked on will test you in ways you never imagined, don't give up when you see things not working for you the way you planned or expected. It's this very journey that shapes you into the entrepreneur capable of turning dreams into reality. So, embrace the challenges, learn from failures, and let resilience be your guiding light on this incredible voyage towards success.
Elon Musk once said; if something is that important to you, you'll will pursue it even when the odds are not in your favour. This means your drive must be stronger than anything there can be to stop you. Besides, the fact that it is hard makes every achievement worthwhile. It gives meaning and purpose to an otherwise boring life. Victory is sweeter when the battle is hard-fought.
