We've created quite a lot of brand identities over the years, and it's always nice to look back at some of the work. This was a really fun one to do, for the fashion brand Muse & Moda.

A while back we had a fascinating step into a truly niche industry: the world of security and protection for the famous, powerful and ultra-wealthy. Understanding the concerns of these individuals and their families was key for us in being able to develop a brand strategy, brand identity and website for a brand new entrant to the market called "Sagacity".

“Culture eats strategy for breakfast”

I've heard this quote a few times over the years.

I was reminded of it again today whilst listening to a talk from Sandeep Mathrani, the CEO of WeWork.

I had to look it up to remind me of who said it first. Apparently, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast” was a phrase originated by Peter Drucker and then made famous by Mark Fields, President at Ford.

It's so true.

I am lucky to get to see a really wide spectrum of sizes of businesses. I have one-man-band start-ups, as well as some really enormous global businesses amongst my clients.

One thing I have seen so many times is the change of culture as businesses grow in size. They sometimes start to lose what they stand for as more and more new people join, offices open in different places etc. It must be so hard to retain the feel that the founders first set in motion.

I wonder what the solution to this is? And what role can design/branding play in retaining culture as businesses scale?
(as I know next to zero about management, but I know a little about design and comms!)

Great to see the Financial Times finally catching up. When I moved the Warm & Fuzzy office to Birmingham back in January 2018 (well over 3 years ago now!) - I did so because I recognised how the city was changing. Covid may have slowed things a little, but it really does feel like great things are happening.

A new week begins. And like every Monday at the moment, I feel very grateful to be able to work from home on enjoyable projects for clients who are a pleasure to work with.

This week we will be doing further work for the team at Fowlam Ltd as we help them re-brand to Nightingale. (a name that was chosen many months ago). A new website is taking shape and we are all learning some new things about accessibility along the way.
