This is the question on our minds and that's why we started FastForward Student Innovation Fund.

We will be investing between N250,000 and N2,000,000 for up to 25% in opportunities started by current students and recently graduated students (up to 3 years). And we are starting with Obafemi Awolowo University.

The Graduate Entrepreneurship Fund (GEF) is a special N2 billion empowerment programme for serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) which was launched on October 5, 2015. This novel scheme, which is a joint initiative of the Bank of Industry (BOI) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has the following objectives:

- Encourage graduates of tertiary institutions currently undergoing the compulsory one-year NYSC programme, to venture into business and become employers of labour rather than job seekers.
- Address the entrepreneurship capacity gap of the NYSC members who are expected to produce bankable business plans after the three-day capacity building programme.
- Deepen financial inclusion by de-risking the NYSC members and making them eligible for concessional loans ranging between N500,000 and N2 million to be provided by BOI.
- Ensure sustainability of the businesses of the eventual loan beneficiaries through effective monitoring by the NYSC Directorate and BOI.

The GEF Programme comprises the following:




a. Online Business Plan Competition to select the most promising real sector business ideas. Selection/screening of participants shall be done via the GEF online application portal: www.boinigeria.com

b. Three days intensive entrepreneurship capacity building programme.

c. Loan amount of up to N2 million to be provided to each successful participant with bankable business plans within BOI's 35 SME clusters (list at BOI's website www.boi.ng), at an interest rate of 9% per annum, with tenors ranging from 3 - 5 years inclusive of 6 - 12 months moratorium period.

The Capacity Building Programme is scheduled to hold simultaneously at the following venues:

Geo-Political Zone/State : NYSC Camp Location
1 South-South : Former Martins TTC, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North L.G.A, Delta State
2 South-East : Umunna, Bende L.G.A, Abia State
3 South-West : Aisu College Hospital Road, Ede, Osun State
4 North-East : Government College, Jalingo, Taraba State
5 North-Central : Mangu, Plateau State
6 North-West : Mani Road, Katsina, Katsina State
7 Lagos : Iyana Ipaja, Agege, Lagos State

The Entrepreneurship Capacity Building Programme will take place at the above stated centres between 18th - 20th November, 2015.

Interested serving NYSC members are hereby requested to apply online immediately.

A jobless man applied for the position of ‘office boy’ at a very big company.
The employer interviewed him, then a test: clean the floor.
“You are hired.” – the employer said. “Give me your email address, and I’ll send you the
application to fill, as well as when you will start.”
The man replied, “I don’t have a computer, neither an email.”
“I’m sorry,” said the employer, “if you don’t have an email that means you do not exist. And who doesn’t exist, cannot have
the job.”
The man left with no hope. He didn’t know what to do, with only $10 USD in his pocket.
He then decided to go to the supermarket, bought a 10kg tomato crate, then sold the
tomatoes door to door. In less than two hours, he succeeded and doubled his capital.
He repeated the operation 3 times and returned home with $60 USD. The man realized that he could survive by this way,
and started to go everyday earlier, and returned late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday. Shortly later, he bought a cart, then a truck, and then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles.
Five years later, the man’s company was one of the biggest food retailers. He started to plan his family’s future, and decided to have a life insurance.
He called an insurance broker and chose a protection plan. When the conversation was
concluded, the broker askedhim his email. The man replied: “I don’t have an email.”
The broker replied curiously, “You don’t have an email, and yet have succeeded to build an
empire. Do you imagine what
you could have done if you had an email?”
The man paused for a while, and replied: “An office boy!
Don’t be discouraged if something is not in your favor today. Better opportunities are waiting ahead.
I pray God opens every closed door, and may you never be rushed into the wrong
opportunities as He keeps yours for you.
