Absolute Sounds http://www.absolutesounds.com Imagine all that high-end audio has seen since its ‘unofficial’ birth around 1970. It has become a global force. Absolute Sounds?

International High-End Audio Distributors and Consultants
Matching the highest quality Music systems for Ultimate performance in the comfort of your home since 1976. A single season in high-end audio can witness the arrival of new brands, the disappearance of old ones, new formats, new retailers – it’s a fast-moving world. Absolute Sounds has weathered nearly thirty seasons, closely observing, participating in and eventually influencing the high-end with such insight and efficacy that its stimulus goes beyond the UK. Blessed with both enthusiasm and foresight, Ricardo Franassovici has developed a knack for discovering and nurturing the greatest brands the high-end has ever seen. Absolute Sounds From Absolute Sounds’ early days with early legends such as Beveridge, Oracle and Apogee, through relationships measured in decades with Audio Research, Krell, Koetsu, Jadis, Copland, Martin Logan, Wilson Audio, Sonus faber, Theta and others, the company has become a by-word for products with peerless sonic qualities. Two key attributes are responsible for Absolute Sounds’ longevity and pre-eminence: Absolute Sounds a total passion for music, and a willingness to evolve. The former speaks for itself: Ricardo’s music library is renowned for its scope, and his passion extends even to quoting his favourite musicians in Absolute Sounds’ catalogues. The latter means that Absolute Sounds has also applied its considerable talents to the newer disciplines of custom installation, home theatre and all things digital. It was the first among high-end sources to work with rather than against the juggernaut of Compact Disc, resulting in a catalogue that has featured some of the most musical CD players ever, from Copland, Audio Research, Krell and Theta. Now it is working with high-end displays to the same effect. But over-riding every concern is the quest for the ultimate in audio performance. Maybe it should have been named, simply, Absolute Pleasure.

If you’re serious about your music collection, the next question is simple: how much more can you get from listening to it at home?

The Oladra Presence, the new music server from New Zealand’s Antipodes, is designed to take your digital music collection somewhere deeper.

Think of it as a gateway to a more immersive home listening experience, where the music takes centre stage and your collection can truly come alive.

Weekend well spent: records, a little cleaning, and a lot of listening.

There’s something very satisfying about slowing down, putting a record on and simply enjoying the music.

For us, it’s all about the passion for music, browsing trough the markets, discovering records, sharing favourites, exchanging notes and stories, and enjoying those little moments with people who feel the same way.

And while we’re enjoying the weekend, we’re also getting ready for The Happening, 17–18 October in .

We’re looking forward to bringing the Absolute Sounds community together for two days of music, experiences, great kit and, most importantly, a shared love of music.

See you there.

Three carefully matched analogue components, each bringing a very different piece of engineering to the system.

The TechDAS Air Force IV uses an air-bearing platter, vacuum record hold-down and an isolated external motor, while the Reed 1H introduces a carbon-fibre armwand with adjustable VTA and azimuth. At the final point of contact, the Analog Relax EX300 is a moving-coil cartridge with a solid-diamond elliptical stylus, aluminium cantilever and a body carved from solid walnut.

Three very different approaches to precision, brought together in one analogue front end.

Follow Absolute Sounds for more recommendations on matching high-end audio components. Save this post for your shortlist.

With decades spent immersed in music, and thousands of records to choose from, Ricardo Franassovici was asked a deceptively simple question by one of our followers:

“What’s your favourite record?”

You might expect a rare pressing, an audiophile classic or an obscure collector’s gem.

His answer says something rather more interesting about what great music is really about.

Because beyond the systems, the pressings and the pursuit of perfect sound, it comes down to the music you never get tired of hearing.

So, which record did Ricardo choose?

Watch until the end, then tell us yours in the comments. We want to know the one record you’d choose if you could only keep one.
