A quick update from behind the scenes š
We want to be real with you for a moment. June has been the most expensive and challenging month weāve ever faced as a small family-run business. We arenāt sharing this to complainābut to explain, and ask for a little patience and understanding.
Hereās what weāve been up againstāall in the last few weeks:
šæ A major plumbing issue flooded our basement, forcing us to either limit or close off bathroom access and is an ongoing expense. This also took out our make shift office and left us working where we can.
š”ļø Our air conditioning completely failed. We had to purchase and install an entirely new system to keep the space safe and comfortable.
ā Our espresso machine broke down and required emergency repair.
š Our roof began leaking and needed immediate replacement.
š§° Every small piece of equipment has broken and needed replaced.
š³ And behind the scenes? Weāve had to lean on personal credit cards and our own household finances to keep things afloatāwhile my husband works a second job just to help us stay open.
We know people have had questions, said snide remarks, or have left reviews about our bathroom access, our menu options, or why we may not carry every syrup or milk. We try to keep things homemade but we also have to keep it affordable for our small business, which means we just canāt do it all.
Weāre holding back tears most days trying to hold this space together for our community and our lives together for our little girl. This business is our dreamāand weāre still showing up, working hard, smiling, and creating a space that feels warm and welcoming, even on the hardest days.
What keeps us going? Our family and
You. Our wonderful customers that can feel like a second family.
A kind word.
A good review.
A smile at the counter.
You have no idea how much that lifts us up when we need it most. Small business is stressful and hard.
So THANK YOU to everyone whoās been kind, patient, and supportive. Your words matter. Your support matters. Your smiles matter. And we see you.
Hereās to brighter days ahead,
š¤ Hannah
