For the past couple of months I've had the pleasure of working with Minecraft streamer and youtuber Iskall85 (and his incredible team!) to develop a marketing site for his newest modded Minecraft project Vault Hunters.

Vault Hunters transforms Minecraft into a dungeon-crawler style RPG, with varied objectives and character progression. Launched into public beta on October 4th 2021, iskall85 already has over 300 players signed up to his servers!

The site proved to be an interesting challenge. The game is very regularly updated, so the website reads game-files directly to deliver the most up-to-date information possible. It also has the functionality to read information from iskall85's game-servers - allowing players to view and share their character progress, live on the web!

I thoroughly enjoyed this project - it challenged every aspect of web development that I've been attempting to master over the past few years, and I now have a reasonably sized list of areas-of-focus to spend more time learning, so that the next projects are even more successful!

Introducing my latest random mini-project, Tyche!

Spotify users rejoice! Integrated with Spotify, this web-app allows you to choose a selection of your favourite bands and artists and then, after smashing the GO! button, will return a randomised playlist of their best tunes.

You can either choose to add that playlist to your Spotify account, or roll the dice again for another playlist! There's also a nifty feature I'm proud of, you can listen to 30 second snippets of the songs on your playlist.

In order to use it, you will need to authorise your Spotify account - rest assured this is all above board. ALWAYS protect your password, and make sure you only enter your Spotify login details into a website ending in spotify.com.

A few weeks back, I set myself the challenge of designing and creating an example website in 24 hours - this is the result! I went for a real-life example rather than something obscure or gaming related.

It's a really basic, static website with the usual stuff:

- big "call to action" buttons to contact the fake business
- mandatory About Us section
- Slideshow gallery
- Contact form (not connected up to anything)

I think if i'd've given myself more time, I'd definitely spend more time getting the slideshow really polished. Beyond that, adding some bells and whistles (like a custom facebook link) wouldn't add too much time.
