ETSY SUPPORTS A THIRD VARIATION: CHECK THE LIMITS BEFORE UPDATING YOUR LISTINGS

Etsy now allows up to three variations in a single listing.

For example, a wall art listing can offer size × frame color × paper type, all within one listing.

However, adding a third variation does not mean every listing can use all 2,500 combinations. According to Etsy’s updated limits:
👉 1 variation: Up to 70 options.
👉 2 variations: Up to 4,900 combinations, or 400 if an attribute is set to vary across both variations.
👉 3 variations: Up to 2,500 combinations, or 400 if an attribute is set to vary across all three variations.

If a wall art product comes in multiple sizes, frame colors, and paper types, and each combination needs its own price or SKU, sellers should plan around the 400-combination limit instead of assuming the 2,500-combination limit applies.

This is a good time for POD shops to review their catalogs:
• Which products could have their options organized more clearly within one listing?
• Which products should have separate listings so customers can find and choose the right option more easily?

For shops managing many SKUs, checking prices and SKUs and updating listings one by one can take considerable time.
