Every client conversation we have now starts with AI. Very few of them end there.

Our view has not changed as the noise around it has: an AI system is only ever as good as the data it runs on. Knowing where a client’s data lives, what it actually means and where it breaks is work we have been doing inside client systems for years.

The next step is to bring it together at Group scale: one AI strategy, one catalogue of proprietary offers, one governance standard, across all 21 countries. That is what we have hired for.

Laurent DeSegur joins CBTW today as 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿.

Laurent has spent three decades building products that millions of people use: search at Netflix, mobile payments at PayPal, and Walmart eCommerce’s next-generation customer experience, built on big data and machine learning at scale, where he also open-sourced the Electrode application platform. Most of the last eight years he has spent inside banks, first running digital and assisted channels at National Australia Bank, then leading the Specialist and AI-driven voice and chat platforms behind JPMorgan Chase’s contact centres as Managing Director, Voice Technology. That means real-time assistants for customers and employees, at scale, with security and compliance designed in from the start.

That last part is the whole point. Putting AI in front of bank customers, in one of the most heavily regulated industries there is, is a different discipline from building it in a lab, and it is the discipline our clients in banking, insurance and healthcare are asking us for. It is also what Laurent writes about: what it takes to run autonomous AI agents safely in production, which is exactly where most enterprise AI is stuck today.

As Group CAIO he will lead a federated Group AI function across our 21 countries, owning CBTW’s Group AI strategy, our catalogue of proprietary AI offers, our AI partnerships, and AI governance. Delivery and client ownership stay exactly where they belong: with our regional teams and service lines.

The mandate covers all three of our continents. Laurent is based in New York, which puts him alongside our Americas teams, and he will spend much of the rest of his time with our European and Asia-Pacific colleagues. He works in English, French and Italian, and has run teams in Australia as well as Silicon Valley. A federated function only works if the person running it turns up.

Hardware engineers, working on a product development brief, asked one question early: what data will we need later, and can we build the means to capture it now? That question, answered before any model existed, shaped everything that followed.

Most predictive analytics conversations focus on platforms, algorithms, and data science. Strong outcomes often depend on a decision made much earlier: treating data collection as an engineering requirement from the start.

Since joining Pledge 1% in 2025, we have committed 1% of our profit to Healthcare and Education initiatives. Through our ongoing partnership with Heartbeat Vietnam, we supported 18 heart surgeries for children in 2025, with around 10 more expected in 2026. Positive Thinkers across Vietnam and the Philippines have also taken part in blood donation initiatives supporting local healthcare needs.

We bring the same focus on health into the workplace. Recently, colleagues in our Bengaluru, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang offices completed health checkup programs, helping them better understand their health, identify potential concerns earlier, and take proactive steps toward their well being.

From supporting healthcare in our communities to helping our own people stay well, we are making health part of how we care, contribute, and grow together. 💛

A late handoff creates a dependency. QA feedback lands too close to release. One workaround leads to another, until contingency becomes part of the operating model.

CBTW’s Performance Boost Program scans how work moves across Product, Design, Tech, QA, and Delivery. It pinpoints where predictability breaks, what to fix first, and where AI can strengthen the workflow.

For one mobile team, the diagnostic exposed a lack of local test infrastructure. With earlier developer testing and AI-generated API tests, the team detected 40 to 50% of issues sooner and reduced QA turnaround from 3 to 5 days to 2 to 3 days.

At the recent AWS Security Workshop in HCMC, CBTW brought an offensive security perspective to discussions with security and engineering teams, exploring what happens when AI systems are actively tested for real-world risks.

Prompt injection. Agent abuse. Guardrail evasion. Tool misuse.

The key is going beyond identifying potential weaknesses to understanding which ones create genuine, exploitable risk.

Manual testing helps teams separate theoretical findings from real exposure, understand potential impact, and prioritise remediation based on evidence.

Because when it comes to AI security, knowing a vulnerability exists isn’t enough. You need to know what an attacker could actually do with it.
